The hum of lawn mowers ring through the country during the summer. Most people rarely consider the task dangerous, but the fact is lawn mowers do catch on fire. Any lawn mower electric or gas can catch fire. Several different manufacturers have recalled their mowers for defects that have caused fires.

Fuel hazards are one of the leadin causes of fires in gas powered lawn mowers. Fuel leaking onto the motor can cause a fire. Fuel vapors around a hot muffler can cause a fire.

According to Underwriters Laboratory, the exhaust of a mower is 240 degrees and the engine can heat up to 200 degrers easily igniting a fire. This could be devastating to a commercial lawn mowing company.

If you happen to have the unfortunate instance of your lawn mower catching on fire in your maintenance shed give us a call here at SERVPRO of Ocala and SERVPRO of South Marion County and we will help you get it all cleaned up.
